This powerful ceremony honours Brigid, the beloved Celtic goddess of fire, craft, art and poetry. She is a powerful Goddess who can help us channel our energy into something that is vital for our growth, she helps us move back into our wholeness. Her season begins on the evening of January 31 and concludes on February 2 and this fiery ceremony is offered in the Hideout in January & February, although some witches celebrate it around February 5, when the sun reaches 15 degrees of Aquarius. This marks the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Daylight is increasing and the promise of spring is now in the air. We begin to notice the first stirrings of new life. Therefore, Imbolc is considered a time of hope and renewal.

 Brigid's association with the fires of the hearth represent both the strengthening of the sun's light and creativity and so this ceremony invites you to strengthen your own light and creativity. Brigid is one of the fertility goddesses too and Imbolc means "in the womb” this is the time when baby animals grow in their mothers' wombs. This season honours all forms of creativity, of the mind, the heart as well as the womb. As the goddess of inspiration, Brigid encourages everyone to stir the inner womb of creativity that exists within.

 Witches celebrate this time in the Wheel of the Year as a reaffirmation of life and a time to plant "seeds" for the future.
